The UN General Assembly condemns Russia for food crisis … “More crisis due to poor harvests”

This year’s UN General Assembly, held face to face for the first time in three years, accused Russia of causing the world war of the food crisis with the leaders of the countries.

Although it has recently declined due to Ukraine’s grain export agreement via the Black Sea, a crisis is expected to return due to poor crop yields around the world.

The biggest topic of discussion at the 77th General Assembly of the United Nations, which began on the 20th, was the Ukrainian crisis.

There have been many voices criticizing Russia for taking responsibility for the damage caused by the war and the resulting energy crisis.

This was followed by the condemnation of the global food crisis.

International wheat prices rose shortly after the Russian invasion of Ukraine in late February.

Over the past 12 months, wheat futures prices have risen by 17%, while corn and soy have increased by 28% and 14% respectively.

However, in July, Russia and Ukraine decided to export grain via the Black Sea and the prospects for a global economic recession were aggravated.

But fears of a food crisis are growing again.

This is because the harvest in the world is not good due to drought.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture cut its corn production forecast for this year by 3% from last month’s forecast.

This is an 8% decrease from last year.

It also lowered projected soybean production by another 3%.

To encourage cultivation, the Chinese government has raised the purchase prices of wheat by 24% compared to last year.

Furthermore, as Russia is moving to curb grain exports across the Black Sea, the renewal of the export agreement, which expires in late November, should also be an important variable.
