[국제]The U.S. imposed sanctions on 10 people including the Supreme Commander of Myanmar

The U.S. has imposed sanctions banning asset freezing and trading on 10 people, including former and current military officials in Myanmar, responsible for the coup.

The Associated Press reported that the U.S. Treasury Department has placed 10 people under sanctions, including Supreme Commander Min Aung Hlaing, Deputy Commander Soe Yun, and four ministers who took power.

The Ministry of Finance has also set sanctions on three companies linked to the military, including jewelry-related companies, and has also placed restrictions on exports of sensitive items to companies associated with the Myanmar military or coup.

In addition, it said the US Agency for International Development will give $42.4 million of aid to Myanmar, which could benefit the government, to civil society support.

“We are ready to take further action,” said Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen. “If there is more violence against peace protesters, we will know that today’s sanctions are just the beginning.”
