The European Medicines Agency, EMA, will make a positive decision on the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Pfizer and Bioentech on the 23rd, Reuters reported, citing German government sources.
Bild, a German daily newspaper, also cited sources from the government and the EU Commission and reported that a positive decision by EMA is scheduled for the 23rd.
As a result, Reuters predicted that the vaccine could begin on the 26th in Germany.
The EMA has said it will decide whether to approve the Pfizer-Bioentech vaccine, which has recently been applied for emergency use, by the 29th at the latest.
EMA is responsible for evaluating and approving pharmaceuticals and vaccines within the European Union (EU), and is also responsible for the approval process for COVID-19 vaccines.
When the EMA makes recommendations for use on a new drug, the EU Commission makes the final decision, usually following the EMA’s advice.
