Even in Japan, where the number of infections is increasing, for the first time since the coronavirus outbreak, the number of new confirmed cases exceeded 3,000.

Prime Minister Suga, who appeared on a live Internet broadcast with a smile and said he would continue to support travel, shook his feet due to a sharp drop in approval ratings.

According to a poll by the Mainichi Newspaper, the approval rating of the Suga cabinet fell 17 percentage points from last month.

40% said they supported it, and 49% said they didn’t.

The approval rating, which had been high in the 60-70% range immediately after its launch, reversed in just three months.

The easy response to Corona 19 is considered the biggest cause.

Last Saturday, the number of confirmed cases in Japan per day surpassed 3,000 for the first time since the coronavirus outbreak, and the rate of increase in infections is also accelerating.

After the tertiary epidemic began last month, experts have urged the government to take strong action, saying hospitals are no longer able to withstand.

However, the Japanese government did not come up with a countermeasure, saying that it was a matter for the local government to decide.

Despite the screams in the medical field, Prime Minister Suga appeared on a live internet broadcast with a smile and said that he had no intention of stopping the travel assistance business.

[스가 요시히데 / 일본 총리 (지난 11일) : (여행 지원 중단은) 지금은 생각하지 않고 있습니다. 경제가 악화하면 생활도 고용도 유지될 수 없습니다.]

The Prime Minister’s perception, far from the Japanese people’s anxiety, fueled public opinion and returned to a boomerang of a plunge in approval ratings.

Prime Minister Suga is finally convening related ministers on holidays and is considering removing areas where the infection has spread, such as Tokyo and Nagoya, from travel assistance.

The response to the corona and worsening public opinion, which failed to learn lessons from the failure of Abe’s Cabinet, are expected to put a great burden on Prime Minister Suga’s administration of the government in the future.
