Prime Minister Kishida took office after winning the ruling Liberal Democratic Party elections in October last year.
The elections for the Chamber of Deputies and for the Chamber of Councilors held for one year exceeded expectations.
The leadership, which had been on a solid footing with no national elections for three years, is now facing its greatest crisis.
The blow to former Prime Minister Abe’s director general against the will of the people was enormous.

As a result of Asahi, Yomiuri and JNN opinion polls conducted after his inauguration, the approval rate for the cabinet was at its lowest since its inauguration in October last year.
This is because, although the party level investigated and announced allegations of collusion between the former Unification Church and the LDP, further suspicions were revealed one after another, sparking public distrust.
In the opinion poll, about 70% of people rated the Kishida government’s economic measures negatively.
The government was unable to find effective countermeasures against record price spikes, such as a 30% increase in electricity tariffs for the new year.
