While distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine has begun in the United States, officials responsible for developing the vaccine say they hope to have 100 million Americans immune by next March.

Montseff Slawi, chief executive of the US government’s “High-Speed Operations” team, who oversees vaccine development, said he plans to distribute approximately 40 million doses of the vaccine across the country by the end of the year.
This is the combination of Pfizer’s vaccine distribution, which began distribution, and Modena’s vaccine distribution, which is expected to be approved for emergency use this month.
Since Pfizer and Modena’s vaccine requires two doses to develop immunity, 40 million doses is the amount that 20 million people can receive.
He explained that in January and February next year, 50 to 80 million doses of the vaccine could be distributed monthly, and by the first quarter of next year, 100 million people would be immune.

He added that the Johnson & Johnson vaccine will be approved for emergency use in late January or early February, and the AstraZeneca vaccine will be approved for emergency use by the end of February.
His remarks are interpreted as refuting some opinions that the United States will not have enough vaccines.
He also strongly recommended vaccination, as if in mind that there were not a few negative responses to vaccination in various opinion polls.

Slawi, who said the way to see and pass light at the end of the tunnel is to achieve collective immunity, stressed that more people need to be vaccinated.
