After the earthquake of magnitude 7.3 off the coast of Fukushima, Japan has been experiencing large and small aftershocks.
As experts point out that aftershocks of this magnitude may occur again within a week, tensions are growing.

It’s been the second day since the earthquake, and is there any additional damage?

There have been no deaths from this earthquake so far.
Japanese media such as NHK have reported that 154 people have been injured.
There are some serious injuries, but many of them were found to have been injured by falling or falling objects inside the house.
Currently, more than 20,000 households in affected areas such as Fukushima and Miyagi are experiencing inconvenience due to the outage.
Each local government mobilized water trucks to provide support.
Right after the earthquake, more than 800,000 homes were once blacked out, but most of them are now restored.
It turns out that the damage was unexpectedly great.
The operator said that the telegraph pole of the railroad on which the Shinkansen runs is inclined or damaged, and maintenance is required for the next ten days.
During this period, Shinkansen trains traveling to and from the Tohoku area from all over the country are expected to be suspended.

Ten years ago, during the Great East Japan Earthquake, an explosion occurred at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant.
Are nuclear power plants in this area safe?

After the earthquake, the nuclear power plant was what the Japanese government paid the most attention to following the casualties.
The earthquake-related government announcements, including Prime Minister Suga, have repeatedly emphasized that there is no abnormality in the nuclear power plant.
However, in the aftermath of this earthquake, some water overflowed from the tanks that contain nuclear fuel used by two nuclear power plants in Fukushima.
However, the Japanese government said the excess was insignificant and that radioactive water did not leak outside.
While the possibility of an aftershock is being raised, we cannot be relieved about the damage to the nuclear power plant.

You said an aftershock of a similar magnitude to that of the 13th could happen again within a week?

This is what the Japanese Government Earthquake Investigation Committee said at an extraordinary meeting.
After the earthquake, a magnitude 5.2 aftershock occurred again yesterday afternoon off Fukushima, followed by dozens of aftershocks.
It is possible, but it means that a strong aftershock of the same magnitude as this earthquake could come within the next week.
The committee is calling for caution, saying that a tsunami may occur due to aftershocks.
In fact, after the earthquake on the night of the 13th, the committee said that a tsunami of about 20cm in height was observed in Miyagi Prefecture.
Some pointed out that aftershocks may repeat over a long period of time in this area, including offshore Fukushima.
Strong rain is forecast today and tomorrow in the areas of Fukushima and Miyagi Prefecture where the earthquake occurred.
Because of this, there is a possibility that the weakened ground may collapse, leading to concerns about further damage.
