[국제]Controversy over the hanging of a female death row in Iran in Iran

The body of a woman who died of a heart attack just before being executed for murder in Iran was hanged.

According to The Times report in Britain, Iranian woman Jahra Ismaili was tried and sentenced to death for murdering her abusive husband. Ismaily’s husband is known to have been a senior official in the Iranian intelligence ministry.

Ismaily was awaiting execution on the 17th at Rajai Shar Prison in the suburbs of Tehran, the capital. Meanwhile, she collapsed and died in shock when she saw 16 prisoners on death row hanging before her. The official cause of death was recorded as a heart attack.

But, according to her attorney Omid Moradi, the executioners carried out the hanging of Ismaily, who had already died. It was at the request of Patemi Asalmah, the mother of her murdered husband.

Attorney Moradi said, “The executioners have already been hung on the dead body, and the mother-in-law is
“Ismaili killed her husband while defending herself to save herself and her children from violence,” the lawyer claimed.

British media pointed out that “Iran has executed many executions in the past few weeks, but it is very unusual to execute 17 people together.” According to Iran’s human rights group HRM, Ismaili was one of three Iranian women executed last week.

The media said that 114 Iranian women have been executed since 2013, when Iranian President Hassan Rohani took office.
