[건강뉴스] Dengue fever is on the rise in Quang Nam province, Hanoi, strengthens anger prevention and control

The Department of Preventive Medicine has document number 851 / DP on recommendations for the prevention of avian influenza infection in humans.

◆ Prevention of the transmission of avian influenza to humans

Avian influenza that infects humans is a dangerous infectious disease caused by influenza A / H5 and influenza A / H7.

The disease spreads through the respiratory tract, contact with contaminated objects and the contact and use of sick or dead poultry from bird flu infection.

Symptoms: fever, cough, fatigue, muscle aches, sore throat. The disease progresses rapidly and can lead to death at a high rate (~ 50%). There are currently no specific treatments or vaccines for humans.

The next period is the Lunar New Year and the holiday season, so the total number of poultry farms and the transportation, trade and consumption of poultry products may increase. Furthermore, the current climate is in a period of seasonal change and anomalous change favorable to the development of avian influenza viruses.

As bird flu continues to be documented in many regions, there is always a potential risk of bird flu infection in humans. In order to preventively prevent the transmission of infectious diseases and influenza from birds to humans, the Department of Preventive Medicine of the Ministry of Health recommends the following measures.

Diseased poultry, carcasses and foods of unknown origin should not be consumed. It should be consumed cooked and boiled before being drunk. You must not slaughter, transport or trade poultry and poultry products of unknown origin.

If sick or dead poultry is found, it should not be slaughtered and used and notify the local government and local veterinary department immediately.

If you have flu symptoms, such as fever, cough, chest pain or breathing difficulties, related to poultry, you should visit a public health center immediately for consultations, tests and prompt treatment.

Hanoi strengthens anger prevention and control

The Hanoi Center for Disease Control and Prevention has sent an official document to strengthen rabies prevention and control at district health centers in the region.

According to the report of the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, as of 23 October 2022 the number of patients nationwide was 51, an increase compared to the same period in 2021 (42) and a sudden increase in regions other than the concentration of rabies areas. . Among them, 15 cases (29.4% of the nation) occurred in 11 provinces and cities in the northern region.

There were two deaths in Hanoi in Phu Xuyen and Merlin in 2022 compared to 2021 (one case). A direct cause is that people have been bitten by animals believed to have rabies or animals for slaughter without wearing protective clothing and vaccinations.

Faced with the above situation, the risk of a human rabies epidemic in Hanoi and surrounding areas is very high.

In accordance with Bulletin no. 5396 / B, YT-DP of the Ministry of Health of 29 September 2022 on strengthening the prevention and control of rabies, the Hanoi Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, ask each department to strengthen strict control.

◆ Quang Nam: Dengue fever spreads rapidly

After two years, the number of cases will decrease and the epidemic cycle will lead to a major dengue epidemic this year. This has already been predicted and the end of October and the beginning of November is the peak of the epidemic. In addition to the periodicity of the outbreak, the current weather in Quang Nam is too good for mosquito development.

In October, the total number of confirmed cases is up to 1,594, and from June to date, more than 220 cases per month have been occurring continuously. Duy Xuen is also a region with 1,051 cases registered as of 23 October.

The head of the regional medical center said that an average of 30 to 40 cases of dengue occur every day. Currently, about 70 out of 400 dengue patients are hospitalized. However, the number of cases has increased dramatically, adding more treatment beds.

Many dengue patients have been treated at Quang Nam Regional General Hospital (Dien Ban). The number of hospitalized patients admitted for dengue fever treatment here is 58, which is double the number of beds in the Department of Tropical Medicine. The total number of patients in the region is 2047.

Quang Nam’s health sector is currently making every effort to manage the outbreak and prevent its rapid spread, while advising people who show signs of dengue to report and monitor local health authorities immediately.
