JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta has now again allowed residents to self-isolate under certain conditions.
Even though some time ago the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government intended to eliminate independent isolation so that OTG patients would not roam around during isolation.
Epidemiologist from the University of Indonesia, Tri Yunis Miko Wahyono, said that this policy may be revoked again because the DKI Provincial Government is starting to run short of funds.
“It seems not because of the hospital capacity, but because the funds are lacking,” said Miko when contacted by Kompas.com, Friday (25/9/2020).
According to Miko, currently there are quite a lot of patients being treated at the Athlete’s House so that the burden of patient care is large.
Not to mention the question of the previous plan that would isolate OTG patients in hotels in the capital.
Miko then understood the problem as long as the application in the field was in accordance with what was said by the DKI Jakarta Health Office.
There must be an assessment or assasement to see the feasibility of a house being used as an independent isolation place.
“The OTG does not have to have doctor’s assistance, it is enough from the Covid-19 Task Force in the supervising environment,” said Miko.
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government allows Covid-19 patients without symptoms or mild symptoms to do so self-isolation at home provided that they pass the assessment conducted by the community health center team and the community unit (RW) where the patient lives.

Head of the DKI Jakarta Health Service, Widyastuti, explained that Covid-19 patients must first coordinate with the puskesmas team to decide whether the patient’s house can be used as a place for independent isolation or not.
“Well, later the puskesmas team will assess, ‘Oh yes, the house is adequate’, of course with the supervision of our team. So the supervision of our team, the local RW group, and the local puskesmas is in accordance with the domicile of our residents,” said Widyastuti in a YouTube broadcast. BNPB Indonesia, Thursday (24/9/2020).
According to Widyastuti, the criteria for a house that can be used as a place for independent isolation are having good circulation and lighting. Not only that, Covid-19 patients are prohibited from using items such as eating and bathing utensils that are the same as family members at home.
“Then the toiletries, eating utensils that are separated from other family members. In the house, keep wearing masks because when you leave the room you meet other family members,” said Widyastuti.
During independent isolation, Covid-19 patients will receive assistance from the local community health center team and RW group.
