Todd Boehly has spent lavishly since joining Chelsea.
Since the American investor stepped into Chelsea after Roman Abramovich sold the club, players have been bought for a total of SEK 12.6 billion.
But now the club is approaching a new billion rain.
According to ESPN, they are in advanced negotiations with the venture capital company, Ares Management about an investment of 500 million dollars, equivalent to 5.5 billion kroner.
The money is said to go towards an expansion of Stamford Bridge. It is also speculated that Chelsea may build a new arena instead of rebuilding Stamford Bridge, but no decision has yet been made.
There have also been rumors in the past that John Terry is interested in investing in the club and, together with a larger consortium, buying a share of the club.
Stamford Bridge currently has a maximum capacity of 40,343 spectators. The arena was last renovated in 1998.
