Malaysia has advanced to the semifinals AFF U-23 Cup 2023 won Group B thanks to superiority over Indonesia. Meanwhile, Vietnam won Group C.

Thailand, the host, advanced through the status of Group A champion. Meanwhile, Indonesia managed to advance as the best runner-up.
Of the four teams in the semifinals AFF U-23 Cup 2023, only Malaysia has never tasted the title of champion in the event. Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam have each won the U-23 AFF Cup.

The U-23 AFF Cup event itself was first held in Vietnam in 2005. Thailand won the championship after beating Singapore 3-0 in the final.
The U-23 AFF Cup then took a break for several years, including in 2011 when Indonesia failed to host. This event was held again in 2019.
The 2019 AFF U-23 Cup was held in Cambodia. In this event, Indonesia won the championship by defeating Thailand 2-1 in the top party.

The next AFF U-23 Cup will be in 2022, with Cambodia hosting it again. This time it was Vietnam’s turn to win after winning 1-0 against Thailand in the final.
