They are ripe to perfection and this week’s weather conditions will only improve their culture. HAS Sours (Eure-et-Loir), in the urban area of Chartres, around ten seasonal workers work every morning to pick up the strawberries and pamper the strawberries.
Strawberries grown in the plain of Beauce
The strawberry season, which extends from the beginning of May until June, then from the twenties of August and until September, has just started. Henri Prévosteau with his brothers and his parents are at the helm of the family farm located in the heart of Beauce.
To diversify the cereal production already in place for a while, these farmers started growing strawberries five years ago. Today, three greenhouses house 3,000 m² of strawberries in suspended culture and reasoned agriculture.
Four varieties produced in Sours
Several varieties are grown on this farm in the Chartres conurbation: “Magnum, Darselect, Joly and Mariguette”, lists Henri Prévosteau.
