Activist Katarzyna A., better known as Grandma Kasia, was sentenced to six months of restriction of freedom in the form of community service. The woman was found guilty of violating the bodily integrity of three policemen.

The judgment reached by the Polish Press Agency shows that judge Urszula Gołębiewska-Budnik found Grandma Kasia guilty that “on March 26, 2021 in Warsaw, at Powstańców Warszawy Square, she violated the bodily integrity of police officers (…) in this way, that she was pushing with both hands at the level of the chest and tugging on the tactical vest “.

Katarzyna A. was also led to the police car to kick the policemen, trample and jerk them. She punched one of them and pushed another one away. The scuffles were also continued in the police car, during the transport of Grandma Kasia to the police station at Wilcza Street in Warsaw.

Judge Gołębiewska-Budnik also found the woman guilty of insulting the officers.

As Katarzyna A. was found guilty, she was sentenced to six months’ restriction of freedom in the form of unpaid community service. The accused is to work 20 hours a month. Katarzyna A. also has to pay PLN 220 in court costs.

The judgment is not final, the parties – Katarzyna A. and the District Prosecutor’s Office for Warszawa Śródmieście-Północ – may object.
