Reuters explained that the danger police see if Twitter allows any user to create a paid verified account. If someone then creates an account with a name similar to that of the Wesel District Police, and Twitter classifies this account as paid verified, false information could be spread without it being obvious to the public. This would affect police work and their crisis communication, Reuters warned.
