PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — An investigation is underway after two men were shot and injured, one of whom was serious, near multiple crime scenes winding around a South Peoria park.
According to a press release from Semone Roth, a public information officer with the Peoria Police Department, shortly after 11 p.m. Saturday, officers with the department responded to a ShotSpotter alert that reported a dozen shots were fired in the 200 block of North MacArthur Highway in Peoria. Nearly 15 minutes later, a second alert reported two more rounds of gunshots were fired in the 300 block of North MacArthur Highway.
While officers were on their way to those scenes, they learned that a 34-year-old man was found shot in the back in the 1000 block of West Adrian G. Hinton Avenue. Paramedics arrived and took him to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. His condition remained unknown as of Monday afternoon.
Officers also found another victim, a 23-year-old man, who was shot and injured outside a home in the 900 block of West Third Street. Paramedics took him to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The extent of his injuries was not immediately disclosed.
After canvassing the area, officers found an additional scene in the 200 block of North Saratoga Street, where they found a gun that had been tossed aside.

Each crime scene formed a complete circled John H. Gwynn Jr. Park in South Peoria.
Investigators with the Peoria Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division, Crime Scene Unit and Patrol Unit each responded to each scene and are conducting an investigation.
There are currently no suspect(s) in custody.
