FIFA Club World Cup 2025: Global Soccer Showdown Set in the US

The revamped FIFA Club World Cup is set to ignite the United States, as 32 elite teams from across the globe compete for the title. Featuring top clubs like PSG, Manchester City, and Real Madrid, this tournament promises thrilling action.

Tournament Overview

The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup will adopt a format similar to the traditional FIFA World Cup. Eight groups of four teams will battle it out, with the top two teams from each group advancing. The competition will then move into a sudden-death knockout phase, including quarter-finals, semi-finals, and the final match.

All 63 matches of the tournament will be broadcast live on Kayo Sports and Foxtel. A dedicated 24/7 channel will provide comprehensive coverage, including highlights, match recaps, and supplementary programming.

Star-Studded Broadcast Team

A galaxy of football legends will bring the games to viewers. The broadcast team features Ronaldo, Christian Vieri, Sami Khedira, and John Obi Mikel. They join a team of 30 experts, commentators, and presenters.

Teams and Match Schedule

Teams from six confederations will compete. The tournament kicks off with Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami facing Al Ahly at Hard Rock Stadium on June 15. The final will be played at MetLife Stadium on July 14.

The participating teams represent the Asian Football Confederation, Confederation of African Football, Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football, South American Football Confederation, Oceania Football Confederation, and Union of European Football Associations.

Why No A-League?

A-League teams are absent because qualification required winning a continental title in the last four seasons or achieving a high ranking in the top-level continental tournament. No A-League team has won the Asian Champions League since 2014, and they haven’t performed strongly in Asia recently.

Missing Premier League Giants

Despite their success, teams like Liverpool will not participate, as England’s spots are based on Champions League wins. Manchester City and Chelsea secured the English slots, having won the European title in recent years.

Inter Miami, owned by David Beckham and featuring Lionel Messi, received a spot as the host country’s representative.
