According to a statement released by a white house spokesperson,Barrack,president trump and President Al-Sharaa “reaffirmed a shared belief: That the time has come to replace alienation with engagement,and to give Syria – and its people – a real chance for renewal.” Barrack further stated that Damascus will “actively assist us in confronting and dismantling the remnants of ISIS, IRGC (Iranian Revolutionary Guard), Hamas, Hezbollah, and other terrorist networks, and will stand as a committed partner in global efforts to secure peace.”
Syria’s commitment extends to joining the US-led global coalition against ISIS,a move hailed by the White House as “a historic framework marking Syria’s transition from a source of terrorism to a partner of counterterrorism.” Al-Sharaa, in an interview with The Washington post last week, confirmed that Syrian forces had expelled Iranian and Hezbollah forces from its territory, paving the way for a new era of cooperation with the United States.
