Family Files Claim Against ‍Phoenix Following Disputed Death Inquiry

PHOENIX – The‌ family of Suzanna Delgado has filed a claim against the city of Phoenix alleging‌ negligence in the investigation of her death, citing concerns over the medical‌ examiner’s‍ handling of the case and ⁢a perceived lack of ⁣thoroughness by authorities. The claim comes as ⁣the family publicly voices their anguish and‌ demand for accountability, stating they have⁤ been ⁤”living a nightmare” since Delgado’s‍ death.

Attorney Sarah Fazal, ‌representing‌ the Delgado family, alleges ‍the medical examiner overlooked certain injuries and failed to address concerns raised by the family. “Every case deserves equal opportunity – no matter what race, no ⁤matter ‍what neighborhood you’re from,” Fazal⁣ said. “And every life matters.” Fazal has called ‍on ‌Phoenix police‍ to ‍reopen the investigation and for city and county⁢ leaders ‍to meet with the⁣ Delgado family. She also urged anyone with data to submit‌ an anonymous tip at 773-997-5443.

Sylvia Delgado, Suzanna’s mother, described her daughter as a loving mother of two young children. “She was not ⁤perfect,” Sylvia Delgado said through tears, “But she ⁤was ⁢trying, and she deserved⁤ a⁣ fair investigation into what⁢ happened to her.” She recounted her dismay at what ⁣she perceived as dismissive treatment from ⁤police and hospital staff when she requested a⁢ closer examination of her daughter’s neck. “That really broke me,” Sylvia Delgado recalled. ⁤”It told me that my daughter didn’t even matter to anyone there.”

Suzanna⁤ Delgado’s sister, Vanessa Vasquez,⁤ echoed ‍the sentiment, stating her sister was ⁣a devoted mother and a reliable friend.⁢ “Since the day she died, our family’s been living a nightmare,” Vasquez said. “Not only as⁤ she’s gone, but because people ⁢who were ⁢supposed to find out what happened to⁤ her didn’t do their jobs.”

The family hopes legal action ⁣will ⁤prevent similar inadequate ⁢investigations in the⁤ future.‌ “We’re here because my sister’s life matters,” Vasquez stated.”She ⁣deserves a real investigation and the truth – and not ‍assumptions ‌and shortcuts. ⁢Her kids⁢ deserve⁤ to grow up knowing‍ that ‌people cared enough to fight for their mom, ‍my‌ sister. We want clarity,⁤ we want accountability and we want justice.”

The claim filed against the city details the family’s grievances⁣ and seeks a thorough re-examination of⁢ the circumstances surrounding Suzanna delgado’s death.
