PARIS – Chinese President Xi Jinping announced on Thursday that China will ‍provide IDR 1 trillion (approximately $64 million USD) in humanitarian assistance to Palestine,as he met with French president Emmanuel Macron in Paris for a three-day state⁢ visit focused on trade ‌adn diplomacy.The pledge comes as both leaders emphasized the importance of multilateralism and strategic cooperation ⁣amidst escalating global ⁤tensions, including the conflict ⁢in Ukraine and the ongoing crisis in the Middle⁢ East.

the announcement underscores China’s growing role in international diplomacy and​ its commitment to the Palestinian cause.This aid package aims to address the urgent humanitarian needs of the Palestinian people, especially in light ‌of the recent escalation ​of violence. Simultaneously, Macron pressed Xi to leverage Beijing’s⁤ influence in‌ urging Russia to agree to a ceasefire in Ukraine, highlighting​ the risk of a disintegrating international order and the critical need for ​dialog.

“Whatever changes in the external habitat, both parties as great powers must always show independence and strategic vision, show mutual understanding and support⁢ each other on core matters and crucial important issues,” Xi stated during the⁢ meeting.⁣ He ‍further emphasized the need for China ‍and France to “raise the banner of ​multilateralism… and stand firmly on the right side of⁤ history.”

Macron echoed these sentiments, stating, “We face the risk of disintegration of the international order that ‍has brought peace to the world for decades, and in this context, dialogue between China and France is more critically important than ever.” He specifically appealed‍ for China’s support in achieving “at least a ceasefire in the form of a moratorium on ‌attacks targeting‌ critical infrastructure” in Ukraine.

The French leader’s efforts ​to involve Beijing in resolving the Ukraine conflict follow a⁢ series of diplomatic initiatives centered around a United States-led peace plan. ​The meeting between Xi and Macron represents a key ⁢moment in navigating complex geopolitical challenges and seeking collaborative ⁢solutions to global crises.
