david Letterman has voiced skepticism regarding the stated reasons for the cancellation of “The Late Show,” suggesting that financial motivations may not be the sole or primary driver behind the decision.
Letterman questioned the timing of the cancellation, implying that the financial losses cited might have been ongoing for a considerable period. “You’re telling me losing this kind of money happened yesterday?” he asked. “I bet they were losing this kind of money a month ago. I’ll bet they were losing this kind of money six weeks ago, or they have never been losing money.”
He further cast doubt on the financial health of CBS News, noting its continued operation. “Take a look at the CBS news. It’s still in business, and I’m not certain that that’s a profit centre,” he commented.
