Manchester, England – A car attack and subsequent stabbing outside a synagogue in Manchester left two people dead and three seriously injured on Thursday, October 2, 2025. Police responding to reports of the incident shot and killed the perpetrators.
The attack occured as the Jewish community was observing Yom Kippur in the northwest of the city. Officers were called to the synagogue in Heaton Park around 9:30 a.m. local time. Initial reports indicated four people had suffered stab wounds, but authorities later confirmed two fatalities. Three individuals remain hospitalized in serious condition.
This incident occurs days before the second commemoration of the October 7, 2023, Hamas attacks on Israel, which sparked conflict in gaza and heightened tensions in England. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer condemned the attack and announced increased security measures at synagogues across the country.He cut short his attendance at the European Political Summit in Denmark to return to London and lead an emergency security meeting.
