Astragon Addresses Performance Concerns in Newly Released Seafarer
COLOGNE, GERMANY – November 22, 2023 – Astragon, the developer and publisher of Seafarer, has responded to widespread reports of performance issues plaguing the recently released simulation game, especially on high-end PCs. Complaints surfaced just one day after launch, prompting a statement from the company.
“A significant portion of our community has reported disappointing performance, especially on higher-end systems, which sometimes even goes hand in hand with reduced graphics quality,” Astragon stated. “From the bottom of our hearts, we are sincerely sorry if you have experienced any issues that do not meet your or our expectations and we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, especially if you were waiting for this release.”
The company assured players they are actively investigating the root cause of the problems and are preparing a hotfix, expected to be available on the beta branch next week. The initial hotfix will include:
* Implementation of NVIDIA DLSS
* Pre-loading of shaders at game start, rather than during gameplay
* default settings for FSR, Frame Generation and Upscaling set to 66%
* A new in-game benchmark tool for optimal settings configuration
* A statistics overlay to identify performance bottlenecks
* Potential re-introduction of hardware ray tracing functionality
While the hotfix is under growth, Astragon recommends players take the following steps to perhaps improve performance:
* Ensure graphics drivers are up to date.
* Experiment with upscaling options.
* Verify that the game’s auto-detection correctly identifies hardware and settings.
* Disable VSync.
* Toggle Anti-Aliasing on and off.
* Disable Global Illumination.
Astragon is encouraging players to continue reporting issues via the in-game bug reporter (F4 key) or by leaving a comment on the steam news page: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/2582140/view/510719798925066352?l=dutch.
