Miami, FL – The family of Erin Victoria Ko han, a Chilean minor who tragically died in a boating accident in Miami, USA, has released a heartfelt statement mourning her loss and expressing gratitude for the outpouring of support.
Erin,who spent over a decade studying in chile before her family,of Korean nationality,emigrated too the United States in 2024,was a student at Nautilus Middle School in Miami. her former school, San Pedro Nolasco College in Vitacura, Chile, remembered her as a “comprehensive, close, empathetic, and good companion student” whose “sympathy and personality allowed her to share transversely with students of different levels.”
Family’s Statement on Tragic Loss
The Ko family shared their profound grief in a statement released through NBC South Florida,stating,”The KO family wishes to express its deepest gratitude for the samples of compassion and support after the tragic loss of our dear Erin Ko. On July 28,our lives changed forever due to a devastating accident that snatched Erin too soon,leaving our family with indescribable pain.”
the family extended their condolences to all others affected by the incident: “Our pain extends to all those affected by this tragedy. We accompany the other victims and their loved ones in the heart, sharing the deep pain that this loss has caused to so many people.”
They requested privacy during this arduous time: “During this difficult moment, we ask them to allow us their privacy while we cry the loss of Erin and honour his lovely life. We hope you understand our need for space for duel, reflection and the long road to healing.”
The statement concluded with a promise to share more about Erin’s life when they are ready: “Over time, when we are ready, we hope to share more about the remarkable person who was Erin and the light that brought to this world. Until then, we greatly thank you for your kindness, respect and understanding.”
Erin Victoria Ko Han was born in Chile and lived there for more then 10 years, attending the San Pedro nolasco College. Her family relocated to the united states in 2024, where she enrolled at Nautilus Middle School for a few months prior to the accident.
