Blackmagic Camera app Adds Direct Streaming to YouTube, Twitch & Vimeo
[City, State] – June 24, 2024 – Blackmagic Design has released a significant update to its free Blackmagic Camera app for both Android and iOS, enabling direct streaming to popular platforms like YouTube, Twitch, and Vimeo. This eliminates the need for users to rely on third-party applications or dedicated encoding hardware for live broadcasts.
The update marks a major step forward for mobile filmmaking and live production, offering professional-grade streaming capabilities directly from smartphones. Users can initiate a stream by simply selecting their desired platform and entering a secure stream key. Importantly, full camera control – including adjustments to exposure and focus – remains accessible during live broadcasts.
Beyond direct platform integration, the update introduces support for SRT (Secure Reliable Transport), a modern streaming protocol favored by broadcasters for its resilience on networks with fluctuating speeds and reliability, such as the internet. For advanced users, the Blackmagic Camera app now also supports custom RTMP and SRT servers, providing alternatives to the natively supported streaming services.
The latest version also includes enhancements focused on data security and workflow versatility.Users will now receive detailed, immediate alerts if an external drive disconnects, safeguarding against potential data loss when working with high-resolution, high-framerate apple ProRes files – formats the iPhone cannot natively record. the app now allows users to customize the number of multi-view angles when monitoring remote cameras, offering greater control over video feed layouts on larger devices like iPads and Macs.
The Blackmagic Camera app is available as a free download for Android via the Google Play Store and for iOS through the Apple app Store.
