This year’s registration of electric cars on the Czech market records strong growth even without direct subsidies by the state. If Tesla was clear in the first half last year, we now have a new king.
We can say that the boom of electric cars in the Czech Republic kicked several things. The first was state subsidies in the form of a loan for up to CZK 200,000 without VAT, which ran since mid -March until about October. Mainly thanks to them, the total numbers for 2024 in the case of electric vehicles for the first time overcame the 10,000 border. With 10,933 registrations, they “bitten” a 4,72 % market share.
This year the situation is even better, although no subsidy program runs. However, due to stricter fleet emission limits, automakers are significantly more motivated to sell low -emission cars. Instead of potential fines, they prefer to reach a margin and electric cars discount. This is, for example, the case of Škoda, which reduced the prices by several hundred thousand crowns after modernization. This got to the range of Tesly Y, last year’s favorite electric car in the Czech Republic.
The American automaker, however, is experiencing a decline in demand not only in the Czech Republic, but also in other European and international markets, including the Chinese, which is the largest for Tesla. Despite this year’s premiere of the rejuvenated SUV Y design, which, besides another design, received a more comfortable chassis and a more valuable interior.

Nor is Volvo, which fired last year thanks to the successful and affordable EX30 crossover. This last year in the first half of the year recorded 272 registrations, this year for the same period it is only 117 units. The Swedish brand lost 123 records year -on -year.
On the other hand, the others in the top ten are doing significantly. Volkswagen, Ford, Kia and Toyota have more than doubled, Hyundai celebrates 75 more registrations, Mercedes-Benz even 86.

The new Škoda Elroq, which is one of the best -selling electric vehicles in Europe, is extremely among the models. Just behind it we find sister Enyaq, followed by a sibling pair from Tesla. The Kia EV3 also has a hit, and Volkswagen Id.7 with Liftback and Kombi, which has significantly jumped SUV ID.4/ID.5 with only a total of 49 cars. Toyota BZ4X has succeeded win In a giant tender for the supply of more than 500 electric vehicles for the Czech state administration, which is beginning to be reflected in the registration of this electric SUV, which at least initially suffered from the owner, for example, too short range in colder weather.
In total, 6910 electric cars were registered for the first six months of this year, 66 % more than last year.
