Jessie J Reveals Cancer Fight Continues After Mastectomy
A Difficult Road Ahead
Singer Jessie J is candidly sharing her ongoing battle with breast cancer, stating that she hasn’t yet won her fight despite undergoing a mastectomy last week. She’s keeping fans informed, emphasizing the complexities of this disease.
The British singer, known for her songwriting, shared that she’s still awaiting the results. Jessie J wrote on Instagram, “I pray that cancer be gone but the fight with this disease unfortunately not so simple.”
She previously expressed hope of being rid of the illness, a statement that some misinterpreted. Jessie J explained her intentions, “I published a list of the advantages and disadvantages of breast cancer surgery. The first advantage I said was that one would get rid of cancer…It’s my fault that I haven’t spoken more clearly.”
The singer initially planned a social media break to focus on recovery. However, she swiftly changed her mind. As of 2023, approximately 297,790 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed in women in the U.S. (American Cancer Society).
Unforeseen Circumstances
Jessie J then shared that she was going to step away from social media for a week. However, her plans were short-lived, as she quickly returned to posting. She humorously explained that while her “ADHD may have impulsively decided to peace from social networks,” her “obsessive-compulsive disorder forces [her] to stick to the plan.”
Jessie J’s openness offers a raw look into a significant medical struggle, showing the physical and mental strains cancer patients face.
