BANGKOK - An arrest warrant has been issued for Anne Jakkaphong Jakrajutatip, the Thai co-owner of the miss Universe Association, following allegations of fraud, Thai authorities confirmed Monday. The warrant stems from accusations of misleading investors, according to reports.
Jakkaphong, a prominent Thai businesswoman and media personality, acquired the Miss Universe Organization in late 2022 for $85 million. The allegations against her centre on financial irregularities related to her company, JKN Global Group, which has faced increasing scrutiny amid a meaningful drop in it’s stock price. The case raises concerns about the financial stability of the globally recognized pageant and its future operations.
This year’s Miss Universe competition, held in Bangkok earlier this month, was already beset by controversy. A thai organizer publicly reprimanded Fátima Bosch Fernández of Mexico, who was crowned Miss Universe 2025 on November 19. Reports also surfaced of two judges withdrawing from the competition, with one alleging potential rigging.Thai police separately investigated claims that event publicity involved the illegal promotion of online casinos.
JKN Global Group publicly denied rumors that Jakkaphong had liquidated company assets and fled Thailand, but has yet to respond directly to the arrest warrant. Attempts to reach jakkaphong for comment have been unsuccessful.
Jakkaphong is a well-known figure in Thailand, having appeared in reality television and frequently speaking about her experience as a transgender woman. The unfolding legal situation could have significant repercussions for both Jakkaphong and the Miss Universe Organization.
