Pennsylvania Teacher Charged with sending Intimate Photos to Student
CONNELLSVILLE,PA – A Pennsylvania high school teacher has been arrested and charged with illicit contact with a minor after allegedly sending nude images to a 14-year-old student,authorities announced Friday. ashley Autumn Mongell, 30, faces up to seven years in prison if convicted.
According to the Fayette County prosecution, Mongell engaged in sexual communication with the student through Snapchat, Instagram, and text messaging. The inquiry was triggered by a cyber alert from the National Center for Missing and exploited Children, leading State Police to identify linked accounts.
Investigators found evidence of exchanged intimate photos, confirmed by a search warrant and the revelation of a photograph of Mongell on the student’s phone. Mongell reportedly admitted to sending the image and acknowledged the student had been in her eighth-grade class at Connellsville Area Middle school, approximately 80 kilometers from Pittsburgh.
During communications, Mongell allegedly instructed the student, “Don’t send me messages in the next nine years.”
The Connellsville Area School District immediately suspended Mongell upon learning of the allegations. Superintendent Richard Evans released a statement to parents calling the situation “disturbing” and affirming that “the security and well-being of students” is the institution’s priority. Evans also stated the school administration will fully cooperate with authorities.
Mongell is currently detained at the Fayette county prison on $40,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on September 24.
