Spotify Premium Prices Rise Globally, Chilean Users Affected

Santiago, Chile – August 4, 2024 – Spotify, the world’s leading audio streaming service, announced today a series of price increases for its Premium subscription plans across numerous markets, including Chile. The changes, effective September 2024, impact individual, student, duo, and family plans, marking the second price adjustment for Chilean users in less than two years.

What are the New Spotify Premium Prices in Chile?

Spotify CEO Daniel Ek cited the need for continued investment in product innovation and features as the primary driver behind the price adjustments. The company aims to enhance user experiance and expand its offerings, including podcasts, audiobooks, and personalized playlists.

Subscribers will receive personalized email notifications in the coming weeks detailing the specific changes to their subscriptions. Spotify provided an example in its announcement:

“From its billing date in September, the price of its subscription will change from € 10.99/month to € 11.99/month. We increase the individual premium price to continue innovating in our products and functions, and offer you the best experience.”

The previous price adjustment in Chile occurred in 2023, increasing the individual premium plan from $4,150 CLP to $4,550 CLP. The new pricing structure, as detailed on the official Spotify chile website,is as follows:

  • Individual Premium: $4,950 CLP per month
  • Student Plan: $2,700 CLP per month
  • Duo: $6,750 CLP per month
  • Family: $8,250 CLP per month
