South Korea Reports North Korean Missile Launch
SEOUL, South Korea – South Korea’s military announced Thursday that North Korea fired one ballistic missile toward its eastern waters, the latest in a series of provocative weapons tests that are prompting increased security concerns in the region.
The launch comes as North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has avoided dialog with the United States and South Korea since negotiations with former U.S. President Donald Trump stalled in 2019. Kim has as accelerated the progress of his nuclear weapons and missile programs, and has deepened ties with Russia, providing military equipment to support President Vladimir Putin’s war in Ukraine.
