Oxford University Seeks Robotics Researcher to Revolutionize Sports Medicine

The University of Oxford is seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Researcher in Robotics to contribute to groundbreaking work at The Podium Institute for Sports medicine and Technology.

Advancing Sports Injury Prevention with Robotics

The Podium Institute, supported by a ÂŁ25 million donation, aims to develop and validate new technologies for the diagnosis, prevention, and management of sports injuries. The focus is on safety, not just performance. The institute is located within the Institute of Biomedical Engineering (IBME) in the University’s Department of Engineering Science, Old road Campus Research Building, Headington OX3 7DQ.

The researcher will join an interdisciplinary team to develop cutting-edge robotics and AI technologies to understand and respond to human behavior in real-time and long-term contexts. A key responsibility will be the testing and design of novel personal protection equipment (PPE).

Responsibilities and Qualifications

The role involves developing a new robotic benchmarking testing setup, hardware and controller of a robotic mechanical impactor, and a data acquisition system with integrated sensors.

Candidates should hold or be near completion of a PhD/DPhil in Robotics, Biomedical Engineering, Facts Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. They should also have a good track record of robotic publications/presentations in the field of healthcare, specialist knowledge in mechatronics design and control, and programming experience in Python, MATLAB, or C/C++.
