Iranian Intelligence Targets Ramstein and Spangdahlem Bases in Germany
Iranian intelligence services are targeting United States military bases in Germany, including Ramstein Air Base and Spangdahlem Air Base, amidst mounting regional conflict and concerns over potential covert operations, WirtschaftsWoche reported on Thursday.
The security alerts center on installations that provide vital logistical support for American military operations linked to the conflict with Iran. Western intelligence officials indicate that Israel warned both Washington and Berlin about the emerging threat approximately three weeks prior to the public disclosure.
Ramstein functions as the headquarters for United States Air Forces in Europe – Air Forces Africa as well as the NATO Allied Air Command. Both Ramstein and Spangdahlem are utilized by NATO air forces.
Prior Warnings from Israeli Intelligence and The New York Times
The intelligence assessments mirror a report published on Saturday by The New York Times, which detailed warnings from Israel regarding an elevated risk of attacks against American military installations on German soil. Senior officials pointed specifically to Ramstein Air Base and Spangdahlem Air Base as primary points of concern.

The warnings originated in mid-September and encompassed potential drone attack methods directed at US facilities across Europe. The assessments also flagged RAF Fairford in Britain as a site of interest, though intelligence agencies did not establish a specific timetable or pinpoint a singular intended target for the operations.
Arrests and Official Responses Amid Regional Escalation
The German defense ministry and United States military forces stationed in Germany were not immediately available for comment regarding the latest intelligence assessments reported by WirtschaftsWoche. The reports coincide with a broader pattern of friction involving Iranian military demonstrations, including Tehran releasing footage on August 31 of missile and drone launches targeting the King Hussein and Al-Azraq US air bases in Jordan.
