Georgia Governor kemp Leads Trade Mission to South America
Georgia Governor Brian Kemp, accompanied by first Lady Marty Kemp, is currently leading a trade mission to Brazil and Argentina this week. The delegation includes representatives from the Georgia Departments of Economic Development and Agriculture,as well as the georgia Ports Authority.
The mission aims to strengthen existing trade relationships and foster new economic opportunities for Georgia businesses. Last year, Georgia exported $748 million worth of goods to Brazil and $120 million to Argentina.
“We’re always eager to grow those pipelines of opportunity so more Georgians from all parts of the state can benefit,” Governor Kemp stated on Monday.
The trip also commemorates a important milestone: the 30th anniversary of Georgia’s trade office in Brazil. Georgia Commissioner of Agriculture Tyler Harper expressed his anticipation, saying, “I look forward to working with our partners in Brazil and Argentina to continue to build upon our already strong relationship.”
According to Pat Wilson, georgia’s Commissioner of Economic Development, “Georgia’s connectivity to South America means opportunity.” She highlighted the potential for collaboration, noting that Brazil and Argentina are home to major agriculture and infrastructure companies that align with Georgia’s strengths in agribusiness, food, and beverage industries.
Along with economic development efforts,Maj. Gen. Richard ”Dwayne” Wilson,Georgia’s adjutant general, will participate in the mission. He is scheduled to meet with members of the Georgia National Guard and their counterparts in Argentina as part of the Department of Defense State Partnership Program.
