Australia Post to Resume Full US Shipping Services September ‌25 After Tariff Resolution

Sydney, Australia – Australia Post‌ will ⁣resume shipping to ‍the United States‌ on September 25, resolving ⁢a weeks-long suspension caused by ⁣complex tariff rules and escalating shipping costs. The resumption follows the implementation of a new third-party platform, Zonos, wich allows Australia Post to comply with ‍US import‌ regulations.

The‌ suspension, impacting a wide ⁣range of Australian ⁢businesses – including fashion brands and Etsy sellers – forced ‌many to halt US orders. The issue stemmed‍ from the requirement to electronically transmit detailed customs data for each item, a process Australia Post’s existing ⁤systems struggled to accommodate cost-effectively. The new zonos platform automates this process, enabling compliance and restoring shipping services.

Fashion label Apero⁢ pre-emptively paused US orders three ⁤weeks prior to the⁢ official suspension. “We’ve obviously lost revenue‌ but that’s always the⁣ case with uncertainty,” Apero‍ co-founder Laz Smith told ABC News.”That’s not necessarily Australia Post’s fault. They’ve been trying to get a solution working.”

australia Post now requires businesses to utilize‌ Zonos to ship to‍ the US. ⁣”You ⁤can’t use Australia Post now unless you go ⁣with Zonos,”⁣ Smith explained, adding that Apero expects‌ to resume ⁢accepting US orders by the end⁣ of‌ the month.

The disruption ‌highlighted the challenges faced by Australian businesses navigating international shipping complexities, particularly⁤ regarding⁣ US import regulations. smith expressed ‌relief⁣ at the impending resolution, stating, “At⁢ least we’ll have certainty about Black Friday sales now.”
