Albion Online Comes to Xbox Series X|S – First Console Release

Albion Online will launch on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S on April 21, 2026, marking the massively multiplayer online role-playing game’s first foray into the console market. The release date was confirmed today, March 24, 2026, by Albion Online developers.

The game, developed by Sandbox Interactive GmbH, is a sandbox MMORPG set in a medieval fantasy world. A key feature of Albion Online is its player-driven economy, where nearly all items are crafted by players using resources gathered within the game. Players can buy, sell, and trade these items at marketplaces throughout the game world.

Albion Online distinguishes itself with a classless combat system. Character skills are determined by the equipment a player chooses to wear, allowing for flexible playstyles and easy switching between roles. Players can engage in solo adventures, small-group activities, or large-scale battles, requiring strategic thinking and skill to succeed.

The Xbox version of Albion Online has been specifically optimized for Xbox Series X|S, featuring a new user interface navigation flow, a dedicated controller scheme, and adapted key screens, including the Marketplace and player inventory. Combat has also been overhauled to function smoothly with controllers, and new accessibility features have been developed with console players in mind, according to a press release.

The launch coincides with the release of the “Radiant Wilds” update on April 13, 2026, which will bring a full visual upgrade to the game, alongside performance improvements, controller support, and a new player-versus-player (PvP) mode. These improvements will benefit players on all platforms, including the newly added Xbox consoles.

Albion Online originally debuted on PC in 2017 and has maintained a dedicated player base. The Xbox release is intended as a “massive step forward” for the game, with potential for future console expansions and the introduction of cross-platform play.
