Ohio Flags to Fly at Half-Staff Honoring Charlie Kirk and 9/11 Victims
COLUMBUS, OH – Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has ordered flags at all public buildings throughout the state to be flown at half-staff, recognizing both the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk and the upcoming 23rd anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks.
The order to lower flags in honor of Kirk, 31, the founder of Turning Point USA, will be in effect from September 10th through 6 p.m. on September 14th. Kirk was fatally shot at Utah Valley University on September 7th while hosting his “Prove Me Wrong” event, a forum for debates with students.The shooting has drawn condemnation from across the political spectrum.
In addition, flags will be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on September 11th in remembrance of the victims of the 2001 terrorist attacks. Governor DeWine is also requesting all Ohioans observe a moment of silence beginning at 8:46 a.m.on September 11th to honor those killed in the attacks.
