Iowa Strengthens Ties with India: Governor Reynolds Leads Trade delegation
DES MOINES, Iowa – Governor Kim Reynolds has begun an eight-day trade mission to India, signaling a continued commitment to fostering economic partnerships and addressing critical global challenges. The delegation, which includes Iowa Economic Progress Authority Director Debi Durham, Iowa secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig, and a diverse group of agricultural and buisness leaders, will visit Delhi, pune, and Mumbai.
This visit builds directly upon a similar trip undertaken by Governor Reynolds last year, an initiative designed to initiate and expand a robust relationship between Iowa and India. The current mission aims to solidify the connections forged during that initial outreach and explore new avenues for collaboration.
“our visit to India last year proved instrumental in establishing valuable relationships between Iowa and Indian businesses and trade associations,” Governor Reynolds stated. “We saw significant progress in conversations surrounding investment in Iowa and expanding market access for our agricultural products. I’m eager to build on that momentum and forge even stronger connections.”
A key component of the trip will be participation in DialogueNEXT, a symposium hosted by the World Food Prize Foundation in delhi. Governor reynolds and Secretary Naig will address attendees, contributing to discussions focused on innovative pathways to global food security. The symposium brings together key stakeholders across the food system to tackle this pressing issue.
The focus on agriculture is notably significant, given Iowa’s prominent role as a leading agricultural producer. The delegation hopes to identify opportunities to increase exports of Iowa commodities and explore potential collaborations in agricultural technology and innovation.
The trade mission underscores Iowa’s proactive approach to international engagement and its dedication to building mutually beneficial economic relationships. The outcomes of this trip are expected to have a positive impact on Iowa’s economy and contribute to a more secure global food supply.
