Waukee Northwest and Cedar Rapids Xavier Crowned Iowa Girls Tennis state champions
PELLA, Iowa – Waukee Northwest and Cedar Rapids Xavier secured team state titles in Iowa girls tennis on Oct. 7, capping off a weekend of competition in Pella. Waukee Northwest claimed the Class 2A championship, while Cedar Rapids Xavier triumphed in Class 1A, completing a sweep of singles, doubles, and team championships for the second consecutive year.
the victories mark notable achievements for both programs. Waukee Northwest’s title adds to a growing legacy, and Cedar Rapids Xavier continues a dominant run that has established the Saints as a powerhouse in Iowa girls tennis.
cedar Rapids Xavier demonstrated its strength throughout the tournament, beginning with a 5-0 victory over Shenandoah on Oct. 6.They continued their winning streak with another 5-0 shutout against dike-New Hartford in the semifinals. The Saints ultimately defeated Decorah 5-1 in the finals to complete the sweep of all three state events. This is the program’s fourth team state title, all earned since 2019, complementing five doubles and four singles state titles.
