The United states has signaled its willingness to escalate‌ economic pressure on Russia. treasury Secretary Scott ⁣bessent affirmed on Sunday that ‍the⁣ US is “ready to raise the pressure” ⁤and urged European nations to follow suit. He believes that a coordinated effort to impose sanctions and tariffs on countries purchasing Russian oil could cripple the Russian economy and force President Putin‌ to the negotiating table.US President Donald Trump has taken a particularly assertive stance, threatening retaliatory measures against ‌nations continuing to⁢ buy Russian hydrocarbons. He has already implemented ⁣significant customs surcharges on India for this practise, and expressed his dissatisfaction with oil ⁢purchases by EU countries.
