Trump Holds Prayer Rally to Rededicate America as One Nation Under God
President Donald Trump and various administration officials participated in “Rededicate 250,” a daylong prayer rally held on the National Mall to commemorate the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States.
The event was organized by Freedom 250, a White House-backed public-private campaign staging patriotic events to celebrate the nation’s semiquincentennial. The rally was framed as a “rededication of our country as One Nation Under God” and was described by organizers as a “once in a lifetime national moment” intended to reflect on the faith of the nation’s founders and seek divine guidance for the country.
Program and Participants
The program featured a variety of speakers and performers, including cabinet members, Catholic bishops, and evangelical influencers. The scheduled lineup was notable for its religious composition, with all but one of the speakers identifying as Christian. Musical contributions included a performance by Grammy-winning Christian musician Chris Tomlin, and the event also included an actor who portrays Jesus.

The rally was preceded by both supportive and oppositional gatherings. Activist and worship leader Sean Feucht led a supportive pre-event, while the Interfaith Alliance and a group of progressive religious leaders organized oppositional demonstrations.
Religious and Political Debates
The administration’s emphasis on a Christian founding narrative has drawn scrutiny from religious and civil rights advocates. Americans United for Separation of Church and State suggested that the event promotes Christian nationalism rather than religious freedom. Critics characterized the “Christian-saturated” and “MAGA-heavy” festival as presenting an exclusionary vision of the nation’s past and present.
The rally is part of a broader series of patriotic events organized by Freedom 250 leading up to the nation’s 250th birthday.
