Kyiv, Ukraine - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has received a draft peace plan from the United States, as a delegation led by U.S. Army secretary Dan Driscoll arrived in Kyiv to discuss military technology adn explore avenues for de-escalation.The proposal comes amid continued Russian missile strikes, including a devastating attack on Ternopil that killed at least 26 people, including three children,on Wednesday.
The initiative reflects a renewed U.S. push to find a diplomatic resolution to the conflict, now entering its third year, while concurrently bolstering Ukraine’s defense capabilities. The draft plan’s specifics remain undisclosed, but its delivery signals Washington’s intent to actively engage in shaping potential peace terms. The timing is critical, following a recent $100 million U.S. aid package approved on Tuesday designed to upgrade Ukraine’s Patriot missile-interceptor systems, intended to enhance its air defense against ongoing Russian attacks.
Ukrainian authorities reported rescuers were still searching for victims within the rubble of the Ternopil apartment building as of Thursday. The missile strike ignited fires that claimed the lives of at least 19 people within the building. The attack occurred shortly after Secretary Driscoll’s arrival in the Ukrainian capital.
