Peruvian Açaí exports Surge, Challenging Brazilian Dominance
lima, Peru – Exports of Peruvian açaí have skyrocketed in the first half of 2025, marking a significant increase and positioning the country as a growing force in the global açaí market traditionally dominated by Brazil.Data from Adex reveals a significant jump in both volume and value, signaling a boom for the Peruvian fruit.
While Brazil remains the world’s leading açaí producer – exceeding 90 tons in 2024 – Peru is rapidly gaining ground, leveraging a key differentiator: its uniquely purple variety. The financial impact is equally impressive, with exports reaching US $555,134 in the first months of this year, compared to US $130,557 in 2024.
Currently, Chile, the United States, and Australia are the primary destinations for Peruvian açaí. This growth reflects increasing global demand for the superfruit and Peru’s ability to capitalize on its unique product offering.
