Serino Rampanti evaluates Torino’s tactical approach after Como

Rampanti Draws the Line for Torino After Como

“Ora sappiamo a che categoria appartiene il Toro,” declared Serino Rampanti, evaluating the exact standing of the squad following their latest fixture. Reported by Toro News, manager Paolo Abate’s side has now reached the mark while remaining behind.

Rather than pressing high near the penalty box, Torino chose to wait for their opponent in the midfield. Because Como deploys technical players capable of beating defenders in tight spaces, challenging them directly high up the pitch invites defensive vulnerabilities. By holding a deeper block, the team sought to exploit gaps—successfully carving out an early goal alongside subsequent opportunities.

A Departure From Historical Pressing Styles

The opening thirty minutes featured a distinct approach when compared to the historical style of former manager Radice. Radice typically favored an intense press during the initial quarter-hour, followed by a structured retreat. Rampanti noted that maintaining such a high press for an entire match remains entirely unrealistic. Even so, Torino generated dangerous scoring chances through attempts from Simeone and Gineitis, though the superior technical quality of Como kept the pressure mounted.

Perri Hesitates During Aerial Crosses

Ultimately, individual mistakes shaped the final scoreline. While acknowledging Perri’s strong shot-stopping abilities between the posts, Rampanti pointed out a visible hesitation in dealing with aerial crosses that require assertive decision-making.

Looking Ahead Without Demoralization

“Ora l’importante è non demoralizzarsi per un risultato che ci poteva stare,” Rampanti stated. He emphasized the urgent need to absorb the positive elements and examine precisely what was lacking as the season progresses and the team’s ultimate direction becomes clearer.
