Colombia Embraces Solar Power for Low-Income Homes
Across Colombia, a collaborative effort between the national government, compensation boxes, and organizations like Comfama is underway to promote the adoption of solar panels in homes within the lower socioeconomic strata. The primary goal is to facilitate access to clean energy and reduce public services costs.
Targeting Strata 1, 2, and 3 Households
These initiatives are specifically designed for households classified as strata 1, 2, and 3, provided thay meet certain affiliation and technical conditions requirements.
This targeted approach ensures that the benefits of solar energy reach those who need it most.
Potential Savings and Regional Advantages
The Ministry of Mines and Energy estimates that a residential photovoltaic system can significantly decrease monthly electricity bills. According to the ministry, a reduction of up to 60 %
is possible, depending on factors such as consumption, location, and the size of the installed system.
Furthermore, regions with abundant sunlight, like the Caribbean region, savings could be greater.
This highlights the potential for solar energy to transform the energy landscape in sun-rich areas.
