It is the maternal mother Camilla Fjeldberg who calls them the “Hønemafiaen”.
It consists of Therese (2), Pål (1) and Bård (1).
And where other hens mostly stay in Hønsegård, this trio is far more adventurous:
– First, they started sitting along the sidewalk and on the footpath outside the house. But as soon as the snow began to melt, they walked across the road from where we live, because there the sun warmed.
They crawl daily under the fence in the garden, and cross the Opstadveien.
For their own safety, Camilla got the idea of giving them reflective vests, so they seem better in traffic.

The henemafia gets them on when they walk outside the plot.
– I found my own reflective vests for chickens at TEMU. After they started using them, they have become tougher.
– In the past they did not like to be out in bad weather, but with the vests they are out in the rush of rain.

– Many who recognize them, look into the garden as they pass. Several have seen chickens along the road, but maybe not with a reflective vest.
– Some are also worried about their safety, but they do not live in the way, says Sunniva.

Despite traffic, Camilla says that motorists often hold low speed towards the intersection where the henemafia tends to wander.

Got company
Why the family acquired hens is a story for themselves.
– Last summer, my daughter and her boyfriend discovered a lonely goose kid on the water when they were fishing.
– A herd of seagulls had attacked the entire goose family. They wanted to save the last one left and brought it home.

Camilla’s grandson baptized them Pål and Bård.

A little later, the herd receives a new addition: Therese, a retired industrial hen.
– They are very fun together. Pål and Bård lay eggs every day. Therese no longer lays eggs, but cares for the eggs of the others every morning.

Big flock
In total, Camilla has got a flock of ten: seven chickens and the clover in the henemafia.
The goose gas has moved from home.
– He flew from home last fall, and since then no one has seen him. We hope he is doing well and has acquired life in nature.

Daughter Sunniva, her partner and their son Ludvig are often visiting from Fredrikstad.
In addition, Camilla is a neighbor with both her mother and sister.
– Chickens are much less control than I thought. They manage themselves, and enter the henhouse in the garden when it starts to get dark in the evening. And since we are three family members living next to each other, it is easy to fix the hen passport.
