Kyiv Under Fire as Macron Urges Resolve Against Russian Aggression

Kyiv, Ukraine – Fresh Russian strikes targeted ⁢Kyiv overnight, ‍escalating tensions as French President Emmanuel Macron issued ‍a stark warning against perceived weakness ⁤in the face of Russian power. The attacks, the latest in a sustained campaign against Ukrainian infrastructure, underscore the ‌ongoing threat to civilian ⁣populations and the fragility of the security situation.

Macron’s comments, ‌made during ⁢a Tuesday morning interview with RTL, come as ‌concerns mount over waning international support for Ukraine and the⁣ potential for a ⁣protracted conflict. He argued that signaling weakness to Russia, ‌which he characterized as⁣ having made a‍ “strategic choice to become an imperial power again,” would only embolden further aggression – not just‌ against Ukraine, but possibly ⁢against Europe itself. “The big⁢ risk…is that if we‍ say ‘it’s no longer our problem,’ that day you give a signal of⁢ weakness,” Macron stated.

The French president ⁢emphasized ⁤the direct threat posed by russia’s expanding military capabilities. “Russia…produces‌ submarines, missiles, tanks‌ to send them to⁢ the Ukrainian front or tomorrow to threaten us if we are ⁤weak,” he said, adding that France must demonstrate strength to protect its own interests.‍ “We are within⁣ range of this equipment. If we⁤ want to protect⁣ ourselves, we French…we⁢ must show‌ that we are not weak with the power that ⁣does not threaten us the most.”

Macron’s full interview is scheduled for broadcast at 7:35 a.m. local time. The remarks signal a continued commitment from France to supporting Ukraine and a firm‍ stance against Russian expansionism, even as the conflict enters a critical phase.
