iPhone 17 Pro Loses Night Mode in Portrait Photography

CUPERTINO, CA – Apple has removed the Night mode option within the Portrait mode of ⁤its latest⁢ iPhone 17 Pro and ⁤Pro Max devices, ‍limiting low-light photography capabilities for users of the flagship phones. The change, first noted in‍ an Apple ‍support guide and ⁢confirmed by users ⁣and tech publications, means iPhone 17 Pro‍ owners can no longer utilize Night mode’s enhanced‍ light gathering while⁣ simultaneously employing the Portrait mode’s depth-of-field affect.

Previously, iPhone users could activate Night mode within Portrait mode to capture‌ brighter, more detailed ‌images in dimly lit environments while still achieving the blurred background aesthetic. This functionality is no longer available on the iPhone 17 Pro, as confirmed by reports ⁤on Reddit and by The Verge‘s Tom Warren, who initially⁤ believed the absence was a ⁣software bug.

Apple has not yet publicly explained the removal of the ‌feature or indicated weather it will ⁤be reinstated in a future software update. The Verge has reached out to Apple for ⁢comment.

While Night mode remains accessible in other camera⁢ modes on the iPhone 17 Pro, users who⁣ prefer the subject focus and background blur ‍of Portrait mode will experience a diminished ⁤low-light photography experience. ‍The change⁣ impacts the ability to capture high-quality Portrait photos in challenging lighting conditions.
