DES MOINES,Iowa – Additional showers are expected across‍ Iowa through the‌ weekend and into next week, continuing a pattern of daily ⁤rainfall.

A low-pressure‌ system over South Dakota is driving the unsettled weather, with energy rippling across the Midwest. ‌As of Saturday evening, scattered⁤ showers were restricted too southwest Iowa. The ‌Des Moines⁣ metro area is expected to remain dry ⁣through ‍at least⁤ 10-11 p.m.

Later tonight, showers will drift east, primarily south of Interstate ‍80,and spread northward into eastern iowa by Sunday morning. Scattered rain is possible through lunchtime, while western ⁣Iowa should remain mostly dry.

Sunday is forecast to be sunnier with more spotty rainfall and ⁣temperatures climbing ⁢toward 80 degrees.

However, the reprieve will be brief. More showers and storms are anticipated next ⁣week. Storms may develop in northern Iowa and southern Minnesota on Monday, moving southward overnight.

From Tuesday through at least Thursday, another low-pressure system will bring the potential for⁣ daily showers and a drop in temperatures back into the 70s.
