Michigan Gasoline⁣ prices across Michigan rose ⁣this week after storm flooding disrupted⁤ operations at the BP refinery in Whiting, Indiana, the⁤ largest refinery in ‌the midwest. While prices remain comparable to last month and lower than last year, motorists are currently facing higher ‌costs at the pump.

According to AAA data, the highest average gasoline prices ‍by community in Michigan‌ are currently in Traverse City⁢ at $3.34 per gallon, followed ‍by Ann Arbor ‍at $3.33, and Lansing ‍at $3.32.The lowest prices are found in Flint at $3.23, Marquette at $3.24, and Benton Harbor at⁤ $3.29.

the average ⁢cost ⁢to⁢ fill⁢ a 15-gallon tank is‍ now $49.

Despite ‍the recent increase, Michigan’s gasoline prices are approximately the same as they were last month ⁤and 19 cents lower than ‌they were a year ago. Analysts anticipate potential relief‍ for travelers heading out for Labor day weekend.

The BP refinery in ‌Whiting, Indiana, which produces gasoline, diesel,⁢ and jet fuel, ‍experienced‌ disruptions due to storm ‍flooding last week. Reuters reported that the impacts appeared⁣ to be contained within the refinery itself.

Patrick De Haan, ‌of ‌gasbuddy, noted that wholesale prices have begun to decline‌ as the refinery restarts. He also suggested a typical “rebound due to ‍price ‍cycling” is highly likely. “There has been some late-week relief ⁤in wholesale prices now that the refinery is restarting,” De Haan said, “and a rebound due to price cycling is likely on the horizon.”

Crude oil prices‍ remaining‌ in ⁣the⁢ low $60s per barrel have helped to mitigate ‌some of the price increases
